A Caregiver is a paid or unpaid member of a person's social network who helps them with acitivities of daily living .

Since they have no specific professional .

Parenting Caregivers :

Similarities with parenting . The roles may be reversed in some ways when adult childen become caregivers to their elderly parents . Parents may receive assistance .

Single Parents :
Single- parent family if the mother is the primary caregiver, and single parent family if the father is the primary caregiver.

Foster Care :
A state - certified caregiver, referred to as a "foster parent" or with a family member approved by the state. The placement of the child is normally arranged.

Grandparent Caregivers :
Grandparents often take on the roles as caregivers. Even when this is not the case , and particularly in traditional cultures.
In some cases the parents are unwilling or unable to provide adequate care for their children ( e.g. financial obstacles, marriage problems, illness or death ) , grandparents often take on roles as primary caregivers.

Caregiver Burnout

" Mom guilt " was already a thing . Then the pandem hit & made it hell for the Caregiver.
Women are disproportionately saddled with child and adult care duties. Some of them are trying to keep businesses afloat , too . It's been ... a lot .

What are symptoms of caregiver burnout ?
• Withdrawal from friends, family and other loved ones .
• Loss of interest in activities previously enjoyed .
• Feeling blue , irritable, hopeless & helpless.
• Changes in weight , appetite or both .
• Changes in sleep patterns.
• Getting sick more often.

Caregiver Burnout Prevention:

• Ask for help
• Give yourself permission to take breaks
• Take care of yourself
• Get up 15 to 30 minutes earlier than everyone else and use that time just for you .
• Make a list of daily duties and tasks

Each situation is different , take time to figure out what works best for you!

You can't get water from a dry well , take care of yourself so you can take care of others .

When things get overwhelming & you feel like giving up , take a step back and remember why you started.
